Petite Stitchery released the Sapphire top and it fast became a staple in my closet.
I don’t know about you guys, but layering tops are a must-have for me. I wear them all year round. During summer and spring they are perfect to wear underneath sheer and flowy tops and blouses or paired up with some lightweight cardigans, and in the fall and winter, they add an extra layer of warmth much needed for this Brazilian living the Netherlands. 🙂
The problem is that RTW layering tops never fit me right… if I buy them according to my bust size, they’ll roll up at the hips because they’ll be to tight there, and if I go by the hip measurement it will be too loose on the top and the straps will be falling off my shoulder or it will be bunching up in a not so flattering way.
Sapphire Tank and Top is really the answer to all my layering issues!
An awesome feature of this pattern is that it includes bodices for different cup sizes, no extra SBA or FBA needed!
Cup sizes available are B, C, D, and DD, but it’s important to note that this isn’t your RTW cup size, you’ll need to follow the instructions in the pattern to figure out which size you need.
My tanks are size XL, graded to 1X with a B cup and I used some mystery lightweight knit for both of them.
The pattern includes 3 sleeve options (sleeveless, short and long) and it’s very beginner friendly.
Even though I’ve been referring to it as a layering top, I haven’t layered it once yet… They are so cute and so comfortable that I wear them just like that, couldn’t be more perfect for the lovely warm days we’ve been having.
