Juliet in the Classroom

Juliet Leotard and Classroom Cardigan – Petite Stitchery & Co

A bodysuit and a cute little Cardi, what a perfect combination!

I had been meaning to make a Classroom Cardi ever since its release (Kelly’s photo on the cover always has me swooning!) but for some reason or another, I never got around to it.

Well, no better time than the present right?
When I downloaded and printed the pattern I fully intended to be a copy cat and try to get the same look as Kelly’s: mini dress, long cardi and boots. So hot!

But somehow during the creative process, choosing fabric and assembling the pattern I ended up with the polar opposite of the original plan! Short Cardi, long skirt and heels. LOL

I still plan on making the other look, but I’m so happy with the turn this one took!

The Classroom Cardigan comes with the following options:

  • Crop, Top and Duster lengths;
  • Short, Half, 3/4 and Long sleeves;
  • Optional Duster side vents.

My options were Crop with Short sleeves.
I used a very stretchy woven (Bengaline) and love the structure it gave the cardi. I only added buttons to the waistband, but that’s totally optional and personal preference. You can button all the way up or leave out the buttons altogether.

It looks super cute open as well, but I do prefer the closed look πŸ˜‰

To pair with the short cardi, what better options than a bodysuit?
I love not having to worry about what’s showing when I sit down (long torso, big bum… it’s a constant issue lol) and when paired with a more fitted bottom there’s no bunching up or having to constantly have to tuck the shirt in.

I love the Juliet from Petite Stitchery.
I’ve made so many of them already, it’s like an old friend by now. πŸ˜‰ It’s an easy sew, it has great fitting instructions and a ton of options.

  • Petite, Regular & Tall – This is such a great help to get a perfect fit!
  • Full Coverage & Cheeky Bum Cutlines
  • Crew & Low Scoop Front Necklines
  • High and Low Scoop Back Necklines
  • 5 Different sleeve lengths & a Flutter option
  • Elastic or Leg Bands
  • Snap Crotch
  • Bonus Mini & Midi Circle Skirt Pattern

I made a reversible sleeveless with a low scoop front and high back.

The idea was to make a simple black one, no lining. Just to wear it underneath layers… but why simplify when you can have 2 in 1, amirite?

The bodysuit has snaps on the bottom, so no need to get nekkid in the bathroom πŸ˜›

I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer….!

Oh, I forgot to mention that Juliet also comes with a sway back option, love love love that!

Such a versatile piece. This reversible Juliet can take me from the office to the beach and I love it! <3
