Yay, first post of the year!
I’m starting my sewing year on the right foot, with G+G’s brand new release, Clover Dress!
Guys, this is a good one!
I’m head over heels in love with this look! It’s vintagey but with a modern twist and I’m here for it!
The Clover comes with 4 sleeve options (long, 3/4, short and sleeveless) and 3 skirt lengths (tunic, dress and maxi).
The waist tab detail and the gathered skirt give the dress an extra flattering look.
The options and adjustments I made for mine were:
- 3/4 sleeves and dress length. I added 2″ to both the bodice and skirt lengths due to my height;
- Made a size 12 bust, graded to size 10 waist and skirt size 16. All according to the size chart. (My hips are more like an 18, but I could get away with the 16 because of the nature of the skirt.)
I looooove this split cowl neckline!
I opted for not placing buttons on it and keep them only at the waist. But jury is still out on this one… buttons on the cowl or not?
The fabric I used is Bengaline, the same type of stretch woven I used for my Manhattan Peplum and Portlander pants. I’m seriously addicted to this fabric. It’s comfortable to wear, easy to work with and gives the clothes some structure without being heavy.
This was my last one and I’m sad… I guess some online shopping is in order!
In case you’re wondering, for the waist tabs I used the reverse side of the fabric. 😉
Not gonna lie… I feel so pretty in this dress!
I’m going to need a bunch more of it… putting my hacking cap on to see what other ways I can incorporate it into my wardrobe for sure.
Meanwhile I’ll just keep on rocking this one every chance I get! 😛
