40K Sway – George+Ginger

George+Ginger just hit the 40K members mark and to celebrate it Kristi is giving us this amazing FREE pattern! Not to mention a week-long of giveaways, prizes, and discounts. Woot!

The 40K Sway is a long sleeve top featuring a gorgeous asymmetric neckline.

The pattern has the options of a short or long cuff and faux or functional plackets.

G+G has added another freebie to celebrate our Facebook group hitting 40,000 members!  The 40K Sway Top is a unique, asymmetric top with a faux or functional placket swoop neckline.  It also includes two different long sleeve cuff options and a flattering, fitted silhouette.  The perfect top for fall sewing!

For this first one I chose to make the Functional Placket with the Long Cuff.
I grabbed the fabric at the remnants bin from a new local fabric shop. I’m not sure what the fabric is, but it’s a middleweight poly knit. For the cuffs and band I used CL, also from the same sales bin. Such a great find!

I had a little camera settings mishap and, unfortunately, most of my photos turned out blurry. Especially the ones with the placket open… 🙁
These were the only salvageable ones, but hopefully, it’s enough to illustrate how awesome this top is. 😀

This would be a good top for breast feeding. You can easily decided which side you want your placket to be, depending on personal preferrence.

I love the length of both the top and the sleeves.
I’m 5’10” and have a side waist of 10″ and didn’t add any length to my top, so if you’re shorter or have a short torso and prefer not too long tops, you might want to remove a bit of length from the bodice.

This is size 10 graded to 18.
I’m in love with this top. It’s comfortable and trendy and I can hardly believe that it’s FREE!

This second one I made using a lightweight viscose knit and opted for the Faux Placket and Short Cuffs.

It’s also love!
The asymmetric neckline elevates the look so much, doesn’t it?
It’s just a cool detail that takes it to the next level.

Plus, it looks really cute with a Seether Skirt. What’s not to love?

After sewing all the pattern options I’ve decided that my go-to choices will definitely be Faux Placket and Long Cuffs.

I don’t really need the functional placket and for speed and easiness purposes, the faux one wins. Ha!

And I just love a good long cuff, so that’s a no-brainer. 😉

I know I’ll be wearing these so much in the coming weeks. The slim fit is perfect for fall layering.
