Sew FREE for Summer

Betty Skirt + Toronto Tee + Knotted Headband – Rebecca Page

Summer is around the corner and the weather is finally getting warmer.
Great time for having a Blog Tour to celebrate it, right?

To make it even better, this tour is all about FREE patterns! <3

When I started browsing the RP FREEBIES page (there are so many free patterns, have you seen it?) I immediately knew I just had to make the Betty Skirt. It’s been on my to-sew list forever but I never got around to it. A blog tour and a deadline were the push I needed to actually make it! πŸ˜‰

This is a vintage style circle skirt meant for woven fabrics. It’s full, fun and flirty and I love it!

The pattern features an invisible zip on the center back seam and has optional in seam pockets.

It’s an easy sew but can be a bit of a fabric hog (so worth it, though!). I made a straight size M and official pattern requirement is 5m, but I like to play pattern tetris and because my print wasn’t directional I managed to squeeze the skirt out of 3m. πŸ˜€

As I mentioned, RP has so many freebies that I couldn’t stop at one piece, so I made the Toronto Tee as well and I love how it paired with the Betty.

This is a boxy boyfriend-style tee, such a good staple to have in the wardrobe. It’s hip length, features a round neck and has an optional breast pocket.

I omitted the neckband on mine.
I just folded over and top stitched for a wider neckline and more relaxed look for the t-shirt. I’m really pleased with the result!

The fabric I used is Cupro and this is the softest shirt ever in the history of shirts. Seriously, I want to live in it f.o.r.e.v.e.r!

Speaking of fabric, I used rayon for the skirt. πŸ˜‰
I made the skirt exactly as per pattern with one exception: I used a metal zip and left if exposed for a sportier look.

Ok, ok…. so I *might* have misplaced my invisible zip and didn’t feel like going out to buy a new one, and this *might* have been a choice out of laziness necessity, but the main point is: I LOVE the final look! πŸ˜‰ So I’m sticking to the sporty look version of the story! ha!

I was having so much fun making this outfit that I decided to make it complete from top to bottom and added this adorable Knotted Headband to the mix.

Such a cute and fast project! I may need to make one to match every outfit from now on!

The pattern is meant for kids (newborn to 12yo), but it’s easily adjusted for a big head like mine! I’ve added 1″ to the pattern (on fold, so actually 2″ to the band) and that’s it.

Because my fabric was very lightweight and floppy I top-stitched multiple rows to make it sturdier and have the knot ends stand up a bit.

Cute and comfy is my favorite combo and this outfit checks off all the boxes for a perfect summer look! It’s also super easy to make mods and create different looks, like a high low tee, different length skirts…

That’s it for me today, but make sure to visit the other blogs for

Very cute; the headband is such a nice touch! Have the Toronto Tee pattern ready to cut; just need to decide on fabric. Have also wondered about the Betty; I have the pattern, but was hesitant about making it even tho I like full, flowy skirts. I think you’ve given me the push I need.
