ITCH TO STITCH PATTERNS

I’m beyond thrilled to be a part of the ITS 2019 Blog Tour.
Kennis is one of my favorite designers, her patterns have a classic look and are super well drafted.

Today I’m putting the Samara Pants in the spotlight.

Samara is super elegant wide-leg pant meant for woven fabrics and features:

  • Wide legs that flare from hip down
  • Straight waistband sits on the narrowest part of the waist
  • Back waist darts for shaping
  • Side invisible zipper closure

I love how versatile Samara is. It can be dressed up or down and make you feel elegant and on point either way.

For this first one, I used a lightweight flowy viscose fabric. It turned out to be the perfect choice for a summer look. It’s so breezy and comfortable!

This gives me music festival vibes and I love it!
On regular daily life I’ll probably pair it with a tank top or t-shirt and a pair of sneakers. Super basic items that get elevated by the pants.

I love when trendy and comfort meet!

This second Samara was also made with viscose, but with a bit more body to it, a bit less flowy.

I’m just gonna say that I’m obsessed with this one and don’t want to ever take it off!

This fabric has a tiny bit of stretch in it making it extra comfortable to wear and that print is <3!

I made an Isidro top to wear with it and LOVE them together.
For the top, I used Ponte and because of the weight of the fabric the butterfly sleeves are extra puffy, which I really really like.

I did modify the top a bit.
I sized one down to get a more fitted top and eliminated the gathers and lowered the neckline a bit by using two back pieces. Definitely keeping this one in my pattern hacks stash.

They balance each other so well. I’m looking forward to creating more variations of this combo.

Samara is an easy pattern to sew, and it’s a showstopper. A definite staple in any closet. It’s so easy to customize the length and achieve completely different looks… I see a culotte in my future soon!

  1. These are stunning! Do you remember where you got the green leaf print? It is so marvelous! I really like the top in ponte too. Never would have thought about using it as a top.

  2. Whouah! Awesome! Using two backs for the top is a great idea. The Samara is a pattern I didn’t really look, but now…
